Second Hand Water
Second hand smoke is not exactly a fan favorite amongst runners. I rarely ever encounter these little hazy clouds of carcinogens in Santa Barbara, but in Manhattan they were impossible to avoid. I found myself hurriedly walking through clusters of smoking people, racing past them into the hopefully fresh air in front of them. Disappointingly, most times I found another smoker already inhabited that space and then the race would continue.
I am frustrated that when I go for a walk, I am covered in univited inhaled, exhaled, and drifting smoke. Hmmmmm. How to get my point across?
I propose second hand water. How about carrying around a sports bottle, taking some healthy swigs, swishing it around a bit, and then spraying it all over fellow smokers.
“HEY! What the ****?”
“Oh,” I would say, “You don’t like second hand water?”
