Take on The Clock

This morning I competed in the Ventura Breath of Life Olympic Distance Triathlon.  Ocean schmotion, bike schmike, tick tick tick and the run was fun.

In a triathlon, a staggered swim start shuffles competitors making running truly against the clock. You don’t always know how well you ranked until results are posted after the race. Some of those bibs up ahead may be great swimmers and bikers, but not runners.  The game is different from a regular 10K and the chase is on.  This is a beautiful thing so pay attention to those seconds clicking by on your wrist.

A member of the Santa Barbara Triathlon team said to me afterward, “You crack me up with your running.  You go at it so intense.”  It’s me against me.  One of us has to win.

For the 10K the clock said 38:07.  Both Me’s are happy.
