2008 SBHM goal: 8 hours 30 minutes
I said I was not going to run the Santa Barbara Half Marathon this year. Perhaps, I would like to change my mind and set a new goal: run the 13.1 miles in under 8:30:00.
At the 2007 SBHM, my daughter was 5 months old and I crossed the line in 1:31:51. It really hurt. After the race, I chased my son around the beach and then took breaks to feed my daughter. My husband was now off duty. A lady commented to me, “You just ran that? And those little kids?”
I returned, “Running that is the easy part!”
Wait a minute! Hmmmmmmmmmm. I have an idea.
My wonderfully, loving, supportive husband will watch the kids while I race. Why am I in such a hurry? This year, maybe I will run as fast as I can to the Biltmore, check into the spa and spend 7 hours lounging and getting facials, maybe hit the Sunday buffet, and then run back as fast as I can or maybe just jog or stroll.
Ok, this is not a real race goal. This might be better as a training run. Any takers?
